Geometric Linear Algebra, Volume I
By: Lin, I-hsiung
Published by: World Scientific
This accessible book for beginners uses intuitive geometric concepts to create abstract algebraic theory with a special emphasis on geometric characterizations. The book applies known results to describe various geometries and their invariants, and presents problems concerned with linear algebra, such as in real and complex analysis, differential equations, differentiable manifolds, differential geometry, Markov chains and transformation groups.

Geometric Measure Theory
By: Morgan, Frank
Published by: Academic Press (Elsevier Science & Technology Books)
Geometric measure theory has become increasingly essential to geometry as well as numerous and varied physical applications. The third edition of this leading text/reference introduces the theory, the framework for the study of crystal growth, clusters of soap bubbles, and similar structures involving minimization of energy. Over the past thirty years, this theory has contributed to major advances in geometry and analysis including, for example, the original proof of the positive mass conjecture in cosmology. This third edition of Geometric Measure Theory: A Beginner's Guide presents, for the first time in print, the proofs of the double bubble and the hexagonal honeycomb conjectures. Four new chapters lead the reader through treatments of the Weaire-Phelan counterexample of Kelvin's conjecture, Almgren's optimal isoperimetric inequality, and immiscible fluids and crystals. The abundant illustrations, examples, exercises, and solutions in this book will enhance its reputation as the most accessible introduction to the subject.

Geometric Methods for Discrete Dynamical Systems
By: Easton, Robert W.
Published by: Oxford University Press - USA
This book looks at dynamics as an iteration process where the output of a function is fed back as an input to determine the evolution of an initial state over time. The theory examines errors which arise from round-off in numerical simulations, from the inexactness of mathematical models used to describe physical processes, and from the effects of external controls. The author provides an introduction accessible to beginning graduate students and emphasizing geometric aspects of the theory. Conley's ideas about rough orbits and chain-recurrence play a central role in the treatment. The book will be a useful reference for mathematicians, scientists, and engineers studying this field, and an ideal text for graduate courses in dynamical systems.

Geometric Modeling and Algebraic Geometry
By: Juttler, Bert (ed.); Piene, Ragni (ed.)
Published by: Springer
The two fields of Geometric Modeling and Algebraic Geometry, though closely related, are traditionally represented by two almost disjoint scientific communities. Both fields deal with objects defined by algebraic equations, but the objects are studied in different ways. This contributed book presents, in 12 chapters written by leading experts, recent results which rely on the interaction of both fields. Some of these results have been obtained in the frame of the European GAIA II project (IST 2001-35512) entitled ???Intersection algorithms for geometry-based IT applications using approximate algebraic methods???.

Geometrical Dynamics of Complex Systems
By: Ivancevic, Vladimir G.; Ivancevic, Tijana T.
Published by: Springer
This volume presents a comprehensive introduction into rigorous geometrical dynamics of complex systems of various natures. "Complex systems", in this book, are meant high-dimensional nonlinear systems, which can be (but not necessarily are) adaptive. This monograph proposes a unified geometrical approach to dynamics of complex systems of various kinds: engineering, physical, biophysical, psychophysical, sociophysical, econophysical, etc. As their names suggest, all these Multi-Input Multi-Output (MIMO) systems have something in common: the underlying physics. Using sophisticated machinery composed of differential geometry, topology and path integrals, this book proposes a unified approach to complex dynamics - of predictive power much greater than the currently popular "soft-science" approach to complex systems. The main objective of this book is to show that high-dimensional nonlinear systems in "real life" can be modeled and analyzed using rigorous mathematics, which enables their complete predictability and controllability, as if they were linear systems. The book has two chapters and an appendix. The first chapter develops the geometrical machinery in both an intuitive and rigorous manner. The second chapter applies this geometrical machinery to a number of examples of complex systems, including mechanical, physical, control, biomechanical, robotic, neurodynamical and psycho-social-economical systems. The appendix gives all the necessary background for comprehensive reading of this book.

Geometry
By: Buckley, Michael; Frishco Itd & Pearl Production (ed.)
Published by: Saddleback Educational Publishing
There's no such thing as too much practice. This reproducible program builds skills incrementally. By inviting students to "show what they know" in a variety of new formats, these stimulating lessons will enable struggling students to actually enjoy the learing process. As in all of the binder programs, the dual emphasis is on (1) mastery of the basics and (2) improved critical thinking.
